Understand how work really happens — before you automate it

Pointee maps how work actually runs — from AI-led interviews, the documents you already have, and real system data. You get a validated, costed process map that shows exactly what to automate first, in days instead of weeks.

The problem

The process on paper isn't the one that actually runs

Ask ten people how a process works and you'll get ten answers — none of them the whole truth. Most discovery rebuilds the process from memory and meetings, then automation inherits every wrong assumption. Pointee starts from evidence: what people really do, and what the systems really show.

Knowledge lives in people's heads

The real process, including every exception, is known only to the people doing it, and it's never written down in one place.

Documentation is stale on day one

Workshops and diagrams take weeks, then drift out of date the moment the process changes. Nobody trusts them.

You can't prioritize what you can't measure

Without per-step data on volume, effort and exceptions, automation candidates get picked on gut feel — not impact.

The solution

Pointee makes discovery fast, accurate, and ready for automation

Discovery is typically the longest, hardest part of any automation project. Pointee compresses it from weeks to days — and makes the output far more reliable.

Done in days, not weeks

Discovery is the biggest bottleneck in any automation project — typically two to six weeks of workshops, write-ups and back-and-forth. Pointee gets you to a validated, automation-ready process map in days, so you move from idea to running automation before competitors finish their kick-off meetings.

A map that reflects reality

Pointee builds from real interviews, documents and system data — not memory or meetings. The result shows how work actually runs, exceptions and all, and surfaces hidden risks and gaps before they become problems in production.

Only automate what's worth it

Per-step volume, effort and exception data tells you exactly which parts of a process have the highest ROI — before you write a single line of code. You stop guessing and start investing only where it counts.

How it works

From conversation to automation-ready map

Four steps, all in one platform — so what you discover flows straight into what you build.

1

Capture

AI interviews the people who do the work — and reads your documents, screen recordings and system logs.

2

Build

Pointee drafts a structured, fully-cited process map — stages, steps, systems, risks and decisions.

3

Validate

Review and refine on a visual canvas, with a completeness checklist that tells you when it's ready.

4

Analyze & automate

Quantify the automation opportunity, then turn the approved map into a running workflow.

Capabilities

Everything you need to discover a process — end to end

A connected set of tools that take you from a blank page to an approved, analyzed process map.

AI-led interviews

An AI interviewer talks to the people who actually do the work. It greets them, asks the right questions, digs into the exceptions, and writes structured notes live as the conversation unfolds.

  • Type or talk. Switch to live voice with "Let's talk," or share your screen with "Let me show you" so the interviewer can see the real systems.
  • Screenshots captured automatically from screen-shares and attached to the notes for reference.
  • Assign interviews to the right people across teams — each runs independently and becomes a source for the map.

Capture from every source of truth

A map is only as good as its inputs. Pointee builds yours from real evidence — not a conference-room whiteboard — and cites the interview or file behind every item it proposes.

AI builds the process map

Ask Pointee to build the discovery from your interviews and sources. It drafts the full structure — and captures the signals that actually decide whether a step can be automated.

  • Structure: stages and steps in logical order, the actors and systems involved, decisions and branches, triggers and end states, and risks with severity, likelihood and mitigation.
  • Process context: primary goal, KPIs, SLA, volume, process owner and security & compliance.

A living map you can edit by hand or with AI

A drag-and-drop canvas lays out the whole process — stages, steps, decision branches, triggers and transitions. Edit any element inline, drop in sticky notes, or ask Pointee to draft stages, add a step, reorder, or add a risk.

  • Model real-world flow control: conditions, parallel work, races, loops and sequences.
  • A command palette and inline editing keep the whole map a few keystrokes away.

Review it with the people who own the process

Share the map read-only with stakeholders and let them comment in context — anchored to the exact step or stage in question. No more marked-up PDFs flying around over email.

  • Comments attach to a step, stage or risk — so feedback is never ambiguous.
  • Clients validate the map without touching the structure — one shared source of truth.
  • Turn an open thread into a follow-up question for the next interview.
Validate & analyze

Know when a process is ready — and what it's worth automating

Discovery isn't done when the map looks complete. It's done when it's validated and the opportunity is quantified.

Completeness checklist & governance

An advisory checklist tracks whether each process is well-formed — a primary goal, an owner, risks captured, KPI targets set, and a defined success end.

  • Teams configure their own checklist and add custom items.
  • It guides without blocking — move from Draft → In Review → Approved when your team decides.
  • Click any unmet check to jump straight to the element that needs attention.

Quantify the opportunity, then decide

Generate an as-is analysis straight from the discovery doc. Pointee scores every step, attaches an indicative cost, and shows where the time and money go — so you decide what to automate, redesign, or leave as-is before anyone builds a thing.

  • Straight-through processing (STP) today, with a projected impact for each recommendation.
  • Automation potential per step, with suggested technology and a cost band.
  • SWOT and prioritized recommendations, plus a KPI table that goes live once the process is running.
From discovery to results

Discovery that doesn't end in a slide deck

Standalone mapping tools hand you a diagram and stop there. Because Pointee's discovery lives in the same platform as your automations, an approved map becomes the blueprint for the workflow you build next — and once it's running and monitored, the KPIs you defined populate with live values and feed straight back into discovery. One connected loop — from "how does this actually work?" to measurable, automated results.

Security and compliance

Built for sensitive processes

Discovery touches real systems, real documents and real people. Pointee is built to handle them safely — and to capture the compliance context right in the map.

Encrypted end to end

AES-256 at rest and TLS in transit, with keys managed in your cloud key vault.

SSO & granular access

OIDC single sign-on, with team-level access policies on every process library.

Compliance captured in the map

Flag data classifications and tags like SOX or GDPR on the steps that touch sensitive data.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to install anything on employees' machines?
No. Interviews run in the browser. Voice and optional screen-sharing are built in, so an expert can talk through a process and show their real systems without installing anything.
Where does the process map come from?
From your completed interviews and uploaded sources. Pointee drafts the stages, steps, actors, systems, risks and decisions, and cites the interview or source file behind each item so you can trace every detail.
Is the AI in control, or are we?
You are. Pointee proposes; your team reviews and edits everything on the canvas. The completeness checklist is advisory — it never blocks you — and your team decides when a process moves from Draft to In Review to Approved.
Do interviews have to be done by voice?
No. You can type the whole interview, switch to live voice when it's easier, or share your screen to walk through the systems. (Live voice is enabled per organization by an admin.)
Can interviews run in languages other than English?
Yes — interviews can be conducted in a range of languages, both typed and by live voice, so you can talk to process experts in the language they work in.
How is our data handled and secured?
Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is controlled with SSO and team-level permissions, and you can flag the steps that touch sensitive data with their data classification and compliance tags. Your discovery data stays yours.
What happens after a process is discovered?
You generate an as-is analysis to see the automation opportunity, then use the approved map as the blueprint to build a running automation in Pointee — all in the same platform, with no hand-off to a separate tool.
